Asheville Drainage is hiring a full-time Construction Materials Runner / Crew Member to join our team! This role is essential for coordinating with the crew to ensure the delivery of materials and supplies to various job sites. When not delivering materials, you’ll work alongside the crew on-site, assisting with installations and repairs. This position starts immediately, with work continuing year-round, weather permitting.
Responsibilities:

Drive a dump truck to deliver materials and equipment to job sites in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure materials are loaded, secured, and transported according to safety regulations.
Source and haul materials such as soil, aggregate, and other supplies.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on the truck and other equipment.
Perform maintenance on tools and equipment, including monthly service on yard equipment (first workday of each month).
Assist the crew with installations and repairs when needed, including drainage, rainwater harvesting systems, grading, irrigation, and more.
Ensure the crew has everything they need to complete their work efficiently.
Must be able to:

Drive a dump truck safely and responsibly.
Maintain a clean driving record.
Understand and follow traffic and safety regulations, especially when driving and operating equipment.
Perform daily truck inspections (checking fluids, tire pressure, etc.) and report any mechanical issues promptly.
Lift up to 80 lbs.
Work with a shovel and perform physical tasks.
Learn quickly and repeat tasks after brief instruction.
Have reliable transportation to job sites.
Preferred Experience in:

Driving and coordinating material delivery.
Operating a dump truck or similar heavy vehicles.
Landscaping installation, drainage, and excavation.
Hardscaping, masonry, and carpentry.
Additional Driver-Specific Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License: A valid, clean driver’s license is required. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred but not mandatory.
Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure loads are properly secured, adhere to weight limits, and follow all relevant safety
protocols.
Safety-Conscious: Commitment to safe driving practices and awareness of surroundings, especially when operating large vehicles in various weather conditions.
Time Management: Ability to follow a schedule, plan routes efficiently, and manage time between deliveries and on-site work.
Basic Mechanical Skills: Ability to perform simple mechanical tasks such as checking oil, tire pressure, and performing routine maintenance on the truck.
