Waste Consultants, Inc. (WCI) is a 17 year-old company based in Boone, NC that specializes in reducing and managing expenses associated with waste disposal, utilities (gas and electric) and telecom. We have an incredibly strong performance-based, risk-free value proposition - we are compensated strictly on the savings that we are able to produce and implement for our clients.

WCI desires to operate and serve its employees and clients in a manner consistent with Biblical principles.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: Content Marketing Manager (CMM)

This position will create and produce various types content (blogs, video, downloadable white papers, infogrpahics, etc.) to expand WCI's digital footprint, awareness, and leads. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills. The ideal candidate is highly creative and is an excellent writer, but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions.

The CMM oversees all marketing content initiatives to drive sales, engagement, retention, and leads. This individual is an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization, brand consistency, analytics and meaningful measurement.

This may be a part-time or full-time position depending on the candidate and their skill-set, experience, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job of the CMM is to think like a publisher/journalist, leading the development of content initiatives in all forms to drive new and current business. This includes:

• Ensuring all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search across all channels including online, social media, email, mobile, video, print and in-person

• Mapping out a content strategy that supports and extends short-term and long-term marketing initiatives, and determining which methods work and don't work for the brand and why

• Editorial content calendar and organization workflows (for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content) must be developed and managed

• Developing standards, systems and best practices

• Accountable for all content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement, and leads

• Measuring effectiveness and optimizing content on a regular and ongoing basis

Examples of on-going tasks will include, but not be limited to:

• Create 1-2 free resources each month to drive leads, subscribers, awareness, and/or other important metrics (examples include ebooks, whitepapers, infographics, guides, templates, etc.).

• Blog on an ongoing basis to support and promote WCI and to attract site visitors through search, social media, and email subscribers.

SUCCESS CRITERIA, EXPECTATIONS and OBJECTIVES

The CMM's success is measured on the continual improvement of customer nurturing and retention through storytelling, as well as the increase in new WCI prospects directly attributable to content creation. Success criteria include:

• Positive brand recognition and consistency across chosen published channels

• An increase in defined customer engagement metrics (measured by users taking the desired action...i.e. conversions, website inquiries, etc.).

• Website and social media traffic growth.

• Increases in specific search engine keyword rankings.

Ultimate Goal:

1. Creating content people actually want

2. Sharing content on the channels they use

3. Measuring the results of content marketing activities

Performance in this position will be measured by agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (to be agreed upon).

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS

• Waste industry experience is not required, but is advantageous

• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred (increased consideration given to English, Journalism and Public Relations degrees), or equivalent working experience (i.e. print or broadcast journalist, etc.)

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

• Strong desire to excel at a given task

• Experience producing digital content

• Experience building audiences either online or offline

• Basic understanding of SEO

• Proficiency in or willing to learn business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).

• Proficiency in or willing to learn SquareSpace

• Training in how to tell a story using words, images, or audio, and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience

• Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation

• Clear articulation of the business goal behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content.

• Familiarity with principles of marketing (and the ability to adapt or ignore them as dictated by data).

• Fluency in web analytics tools or willing to learn (Google Analytics, etc.)

• Fluency in social media marketing applications or willing to learn (HootSuite, Tweetdeck, etc.)

• Eagerness and desire to continually learn the latest platforms, technology tools and marketing solutions

PERFORMANCE and COMPENSATION

Compensation will include a base salary with a commission paid on the revenue generated from new clients that find WCI via the CMM's content strategy.
