Small Hands Big Art, a children's art studio, is expanding our creative leadership team at our South Charlotte studio and we are currently recruiting for permanent part time art and pottery instructors.

Responsibilities include development of lesson plans and teaching mixed media art and pottery classes, camps and workshops (including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, pottery, etc.) to children ranging in age from toddlers to middle school at our expanded South Charlotte studio and new Pottery Studio (for kids + adults) that recently opened. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience and an interest in and talent for training other teachers, experience collaborating with creative teams, an ability to influence the creative direction of the company as a whole, marketing, and acting as a brand ambassador. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated work history of successfully assuming progressively greater responsibilities, and be interested in and capable of growing with us as a company and evolving into a leadership role in the South Charlotte studio.

Additional responsibilities include planning and facilitating art projects for parties and other special events such as charity events, fundraisers, etc. as needed, and assisting with studio organization and clean-up. Hours during Covid-19 are temporarily very unpredictable, but typical schedule is approximately 25 hours a week, Tues - Fri, mostly mid morning through after school hours (some weekends if desired), with increased hours during the summer months. Late afternoon / Evening shifts are also available. Ability to work flexible hours, including periodic Saturdays, is a must as class times vary from day to day. Our busiest times in the studio are when children are out of school; afternoons, early evenings & weekends.

Ideal candidates will have prior teaching experience, must love working with kids and be caring and compassionate towards children! Our mission is to deliver a unique, fun, memorable, educational, + enriching art experience to every child who spends time with us! The Small Hands Big Art team is super high energy, supportive of each other, places a high value on teamwork and having fun! We are scrappy creative problem solvers and think quickly on our feet! The physical demands of the job require standing for long periods of time, and frequent bending.

Must be willing to undergo a third party background check and obtain infant/child CPR first aid certification within 60 days of employment. Art education background and/or prior art teaching experience with children required.
