FTE Salary Range: $110,000-$125,000.00/year

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sr Systems Engineer is responsible for building enterprise grade hybrid cloud AWS infrastructure environments. They are charged with configuring, maintaining, and supporting a complex server environment which includes Windows and Linux platforms in both a physical data center and IaaS in the cloud. The Sr System Engineer works as a member of the Infrastructure Services team and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of that team and how it supports those of the I&O division.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Linux/Unix and/or Windows Based Systems.
• Ensure operational stability of server and storage environment.
• Actively Monitors the health of services. Builds automated monitoring/alerting to help ensure uptime of 99.8% for the systems.
• Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
• Provide tier 2 and 3 level support with the defined SLA/RLA with over 90% compliance.
• Helps automate server builds using scripting languages or any new technology identified in environment based on technology and architectural roadmap.
• Provides cost effective, secure, and fit-for-purpose solutions to internal customers as per the business needs.
• Builds and maintains secure hardened servers as per the security standards with less than 5% rework (not requirement changes) during build & deploy phase.
• Helps automate patch process for servers on monthly/regular basis using automated tools like Altiris, SSM or Satellite. Critical security patches to be applied with 10 hours of communication received from security team.
• Assist the Team lead or Manager in integration or divestiture initiatives and provide timely feedback/inputs and help integrate IT assets.
• Assist the Team lead or Manager in providing inputs for EOL assets and/or renewals and related activities.
• Configure and maintain organizational backup and restore environments. Assists the customers in performing backup and recovery of systems as and when required
• Perform backup system and storage upgrades in alignment with established processes and standards.
• Configure and manage the backup platforms to ensure hourly, daily, nightly, and monthly backups of on-prem systems to AWS.
• Ability to Test backup and recoveries on monthly, quarterly basis as per DR and audit related exercises
• Configure and manage CPM platform to ensure backups of AWS based systems as per defined frequencies (daily, weekly, monthly)
• Document and cross train other Systems Engineers in backup system configurations and processes. (If necessary, to be explicit above/beyond the documentation requirements below)
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly server and storage platform performance tuning in alignment with defined processes and standards
• Help DBA team to configure MySQL/SQL Server wherever needed

• 3 years AWS experience
• 3-5 years' experience developing infrastructure and platform pipelines for agile delivery to application teams
• AWS Certifications highly desired
• Experience with AWS, VPC, AZs, Subnets, Route53, ALB/NLB, WAF, Stack Sets, Security Groups, NACLs, EC2, Systems Manager, Azure DevOps, Ansible, Jenkins
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
• Strong developer mindset with experience developing in CloudFormation, Terraform, Python, YAML, JSON.
• Strong platform engineering background automating provisioning of resources in AWS
• Experiences building infrastructure as code CICD pipelines using cloud formation, gold images, configuration management automation.
• Engineering automated, repeatable platform solutions on AWS that allow easy to use self-service capabilities for application teams.
• Strong understanding of security constructs in AWS including Load Balancers, WAF, SGs, NACLs, Patching, CloudTrail, Guard Duty, etc.
• Strong background building automated self service capabilities in AWS
• Strong communication skills
