The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers’ financial needs.DMI’s Information Architecture organization works in partnership with Business and IT Information Technology leaders to ensure information strategies and architecture plans are aligned with Wells Fargo’s mission, strategy, goals, and objectives. Responsibilities include defining a standard common business vocabulary, expressing strategic data requirements, outlining high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligning with Wells Fargo’s Enterprise Data Strategy and related architectures.The Information Modeler is a critical team player within the DMI Information Architecture Team and will report to the Information Modeling Team Manager. The Information Modeler is a subject matter expert on modeling technique and is well versed in shareable concepts from the uniform models repository and has detailed knowledge of several domains’ content (approx. 2-3 domains per modeler). The Information Modeler functions as a practitioner and is accountable to understand the assigned domain’s supported business process and capabilities and their specific data requirements. The Modeler studies a domain’s business processes, underlying data, relationships between the data elements within the domain and with data elements from other domains, and how that data is used. The Modeler is a team player who can also work independently to develop conceptual and logical data models for their assigned Data Domains, with a focus on EDE Conformed and Curated zones. Time and priority permitting, the modeler may also be assigned to engage on critical projects/programs. The Modeler uses/aligns with models from a uniform models repository, terms within our enterprise glossary and domain business terminology. The Information Modeler drives cross-leverage of data from the Enterprise Data Environment (EDE) across different business use cases to answer complex business questions and encourage business innovation. The Modeler will work with the EDE technical delivery teams to align conceptual and logical data model with physical data models.Key Responsibilities Include:

Perform detailed business process analysis, source data and data quality analysis of assigned domains and domain sub-areas, including metadata and any existing models. Show initiative, tenacity and creativity in researching for any information clues. See the big picture goal and work through opaqueness to achieve it. Show independence, lead sessions with key business and technology resources to collect and analyze business requirements and translate these into data requirements/models.

Develop/augment conceptual and logical information models for assigned, high complexity data domains and domain sub-areas of the Conformed and Curated zones of the EDE. Ensure they are conformed. Represent the data models in reviews with Data SMEs, peer data modelers, technical development teams, and architecture teams

Using the data modeling tool and partnering with technical professionals such as Database Administrators, mentor to translate conceptual to logical to physical models. Lead, mentor and/or provide guidance to less experienced information modelers, including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues.

Participate in the development and evolution of the information modeling practice (best practices, standards, policies and procedures).

Collaborate with team and any stakeholders to determine and define processes, guidelines and best practices. Communicate strategies and processes around information modeling and information architecture to cross functional groups and senior levels. Influence multiple levels of management on complex business and technical issues and challenges.

Know what target dates are set for deliverables and if none are set, work with leadership to set them for clarity.

The preferred location(s) for this job opening are Phoenix, AZ; Dallas/Irving TX; Minneapolis, MN; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA. However, will consider other locations for most qualified applicant.Required Qualifications:

10+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience in one or a combination of the following: data, applications or architecture

7+ years of experience in translating business and functional requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models

6+ years of experience in application & data architecture and solution design

6+ years of data modeling experience

Desired Qualifications:

5+ years of consulting or regulatory experience in the financial services industry

Extensive technical skills and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of an entire line of business or infrastructure sub-domain

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

Technical and business architecture experience

Knowledge and understanding of data modeling tools, such as Power Designer

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
