Position PurposeThe Packaging Productivity Engineer role is necessary to provide proactive approaches focusing on improving multiple facets of Packaging Operational Performance. The Packaging Productivity team will cooperate with Packaging CI, COE, Maintenance and Core Operations organizations to achieve the goals set by the Business. This role will be a technical resource in plant operations and will advance existing processes through monitoring key plant metrics and implementing best practices. Currently the day-to-day activities consume our core operations team with urgent activities, leaving very little time for the non-urgent but very important activities around packaging productivity gains. The purpose of this role to improve and optimize Manufacturing Excellence, in the areas of global efficiency (GE), shrink, manufacturing costs, and equipment downtime. The Packaging Productivity Engineer will also assist in the continuous improvement of other operational processes and procedures to develop improvements in production and process safety, maintenance/reliability and capital project execution.Principal Accountabilities50% Develop and execute near term strategic and tactical action plans through evaluating current plant performance opportunities. Focusing on improvements in GE, manufacturing costs, Product Loss, and Reliability while utilizing continuous improvement activities(RCA,Kaizen,5-Why)25% Support plant operations by identifying and driving solutions to ongoing production failures and key production metrics.15% Partner with other functional areas, Maintenance, Accounting, Supply Chain, to drive improvements through special projects and initiatives.10% Develop and maintain metric tracking for progress reporting and benchmarking analysis.Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree AND/ OR 3+ experience in packaging or processing engineering. +3 years of industrial or production management experience Experience troubleshooting programming logic on packaging equipment Strong mechanical and electrical equipment knowledge Ability to evaluate complex equipment design and reliability issues and propose required upgrades to improve efficiency Project Management ExperiencePreferred Qualifications B.Sc. in Engineering Green Belt Six Sigma +5 years packaging operations experience or liquid filling experience Equipment Specification and Best Practice Development for Packaging Equipment PLC programming knowledge Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement. Advanced Analytical Skills in MS Excel, Minitab, and SAP.Success factors / Abilities Demonstrated Communication Skills: Good listener, able to present complicated matter in a clear way both written and verbally, engaging in discussions.
