Title:Web Developer (Remote Options Available)This position is part of a 4-person team in support of Drought.gov, a part of the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), located at National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). Drought.gov is the public face of NIDIS and serves as a clearinghouse for drought products, forecasts, services, and information at the state, regional, national, and global levels. The team is split with 2 front-end development positions (this vacancy resides here) and 2 back-end GIS / Python / development positions.Position can be onsite at any of the four NCEI locations, fully remote, or a combination of the two. Reimbursable travel is available for in person attendance at the annual planning meeting in either Asheville NC or Boulder CO.Required skillsJavaScript (both Vanilla JavaScript and jQuery)

PHP (preferably 7+)

Use of GIT and other build tools.

Understanding of CSS, experience with preprocessors such as SASS / LESS preferred

Designing, Building and Maintaining APIs

Ability to work independently and cross-functionally

Keen attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal skills

Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility

Preferred skillsDrupal 9 (both Site Builder and Developer experience)

Familiarity with OpenLayers or Leaflet

Familiarity with D3 or other Data Visualization toolsets

Experience with MySQL / MariaDB

Experience with Docker and Rancher tools

Experience with Unix / Linux command-line and bash shell

Experience with User Experience Testing

Website Accessibility Compliance

Composer package management

A background using environmental / climate variables in research is desired
