Position Overview
This position is responsible for assisting with general railcar repair operations and for performing regular housekeeping and maintenance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with various railcar repair jobs in assigned areas such as welding, painting/blasting, cleaning, and valve repair
Assist with training new rail shop workers
Operate shop machinery and equipment
Prepare job cards and material depletion records
Monitor and maintain facility inventory
What is expected of you and others at this level
Intermediate skills in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process
Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
Works within standard operation procedures and/or scientific methods
Works with a moderate degree of supervision
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred
2-4 years relevant experience required
Must be able to drive for the company according to the Companys Vehicle Safety and Driver Qualification Policy at Locations where mobile work is performed
Must have valid drivers license
Must be able to meet company requirement to be an insured driver
Must pass DOT physical
