Teach children about the wonders of the coast during excursions to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout! Dolphin and wild banker ponies are commonly seen!

Seeking: Individuals with science or teaching background; especially seeking retired teachers.

Type of Work: Flexible schedule; Temporary, Part-time (between 10 and 20+ hours a week depending on applicant's schedule and qualifications). Most of the work would take place in the spring with some in the fall.

Work Location: Cruises are mostly out of Harkers Island, NC.

Position: Nature tour instructors. The individuals chosen for these positions would be teaching school groups (grades 2 - 12) about marine science and maritime history after cruising to the Shackleford Banks or Cape Lookout on a National Park Service Ferry boat. Trips would consist of explorations of Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout. Activities include fishing, marsh collecting, beach exploring and live animal studies. Instructors job would be to provide interpretation of what we collect and observe.

Skill / Experience Sought in Applicant: Science and / or teaching background desired.

Applicants should have an interest in science and enjoy sharing the wonders of the coast with children. Good presentation skills are important. Punctuality and reliability are essential. Applicants must be able to get into and out of boats, and walk on sandy beaches.
