Volt is looking for an Electrical Engineer for our Fortune 500 client in Monroe, North Carolina.Job Description Summary: The Electrical Engineer defines and implements electronic design and re-design solutions for high quality life safety products. The candidate supports multidisciplinary design teams in the electrical engineering analyses, design, drafting, development, testing and support of electromechanical embedded systems. Circuit design activities include microcontrollers, analog, power distribution, IO, cables/wiring/harnesses, power management, displays, batteries, and other components found in portable, rugged electromechanical products. PCB layout activities include stack up, outline, placement, routing, preparation for fabrication, EMI/EMC, RFI, and intrinsic safety. The candidate works collaboratively with Mechanical Engineers, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Logistics, Mechanical, Quality, Test and other technical disciplines as part of a combined integrated team. Provides status input and tracking of assigned tasks. Interfaces with customers and internal corporate personnel l. The person in this role should be a strong communicator who is able to work effectively with peers and management alike in a high paced global environment. Responsibility Statements: ? Senior level engineering understanding of electrical schematic design, circuit simulations and multi-layer PCB layouts ? Collaboration with PCB manufacturers and assembly houses to create manufacturable and testable PCBs ? Understanding microcontroller firmware ? Collaborate with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality and interact with third party suppliers of materials ? Interface with production for continuous improvement ? Provide written technical specifications in a clear and unambiguous fashion ? Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the capability of producing innovative electrical and system solutions ? Demonstrated knowledge of FMEA principals and DVP&R methodology ? Proficient in Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, and Usability methodologies ? Knowledge of robust mechanical systems to meet or exceed large temperature fluctuations, vibration and drop tests, EMI/ESD and regulatory testing requirements ? Proficient with MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) ? Write ECNs for products to correct errors and to resolve production difficultiesRequired Qualifications: ? BSEE or equivalent from an accredited university ? 5-7 years of experience with electrical design and system applications ? Excellent English-based technical writing and verbal skills ? User of Altium design tools (or an equivalent) ? Experience designing and developing embedded electronic systems for commercial, Industrial, and/or military products ? Experience designing electronics to comply with FCC / IC, UL, CSA, ATEX and IECEx Highly Desirable Qualifications: ? Demonstrated success using lean techniques, DFSS, Kaizen, CTQs, PLM, balanced scorecards, DFMEA ? Strong analytical and quantitative skills, experience with design simulation and analysis tools ? Familiarity with Thermal imaging products and SCBA products.
