Appliance Mechanic (Ft. Bragg)
Avalon is a growing government contracted business with numerous locations throughout the contingent United States. We are searching for a dedicated professional (appliance technician) to perform duties on Fort Bragg, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This is a full-time position with excellent pay, and full benefits. The ideal candidate is someone with experience or trade school certificate, and searching for long-term employment with our growing veteran-owned company.
Job Responsibilities:
Responds to service calls in on-post housing
Utilizes hand tools & power tools
Tests equipment while following wiring diagrams and manufacturers specifications
Examines equipment performance to diagnose issue
Connects/Disconnects appliance to/from power source
Disassembles appliances and examines mechanical/electrical parts
Tests meters such as wattmeter, ammeter, voltmeter
Traces electrical circuits & locates shorts/grounds using ohmmeter
Cuts openings in walls/floors to accommodate appliance
Calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points
Repairs or replaces gas valves or igniters
Replaces worn or defective parts such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, appliance motors and defective wiring
Transports and installs new appliances to housing units as needed
Correctly completes job orders and appliance inventory forms
Qualifications:
2-5 years appliance technician experience, or
Trade school certificate
Valid drivers license w/acceptable driving record (Federal requirement)
Ability to read and write English
Ability to perform quality work with minimal supervision
Good interpersonal skills and ability to represent company in a professional manner
Able to pass pre-employment drug and background screening
Physical Requirements:
Able to bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand and walk
Able to push, pull, frequently lift & carry items weighting up to 60 lbs.
Able to move appliances in excess of 200 lbs.
Travel to/from designated location(s) by personal or company vehicle
