Lead Mechanic / Fleet Manager Job Description:

The Fleet Manager is a working manager who will oversee and participate in all aspects of our fleet management, service, and repair to minimize downtime. Ensure all vehicle/equipment adhere to industry standards and regulations for emissions, usage and operation. Manage the daily activities in the work shop and mechanic schedules. Schedule necessary repair or maintenance on all equipment belonging to the company to include batch trucks, compressor trucks, vans, trailers and all heavy equipment. Order parts as needed.

Manager Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair vehicles in a timely and professional manner.

The Fleet Manager will work with a team to establish and or maintain policies and procedures that keep the work flow at the highest efficiency level to maximize internal/external customer service and profits.

Continually follow up on status of repairs to assure that vehicles/equipment are ready when promised.

Keep management and team members informed of all problems and potential problems involving repairs.

Use quality control procedures designed to monitor quality of work and take corrective action where standards are not met. Provide assistance, information, and direction to company team members to correct technical concerns and improve efficiency.

Ensures proper storage and housing of vehicles/equipment, manages the fuel consumption.

The Fleet Manager will oversee, schedule, train, and mentor technicians in the shop to maximize efficiency and quality.

Participate in hiring process including the search of new technicians.

Maintain special tools in ways that are convenient to team members needing them.

Maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition. Establish equipment maintenance schedules as needed.

Develop business relationships with vendor personnel that result in obtaining the highest level of vehicle/equipment readiness.

Maintain facilities in an attractive, appropriate and safe manner. Follow all employment, safety, and environmental regulations as required by any city, county, state or federal governing body.

Required Work Experience:

2 years management experience preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Must be a proven self-starter with strong time management skills

Must be able to communicate with management and staff

Diesel and heavy equipment repair experience required

Familiarity with government ELD programs preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00 to $95,000.00 /year
