Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the primary purpose of this position is to develop individual goals for the students and plan and implement activities toward those goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Summary:

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Conduct and attend IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or IFSP (Individualized Family Service

Plan) Meetings and assist in developing individual goals to meet the needs of the students.

Review IEP's/IFSP's and update as required.

Plan and implement IEP/IFSP activities, as well as implement age appropriate and curriculum based activities.

Direct the daily activities of students, providing a safe, positive and stimulating learning

environment.

Organize and arrange the learning environment; obtain and maintain the equipment, supplies and materials needed for classroom activities.

Perform various routine procedures such as positioning, diapering, and feeding the students.

Provide a clean, safe environment for the students.

Oversee the work of teacher assistants, instructing, reviewing and planning work of others;

maintaining standards; coordinating activities.

Communicate professionally with all students, parents, visitors, coworkers, case managers, etc.

Conduct home visits with students as needed.

Administer First Aid to students as needed and administers prescription medication to students with written directions from physician and parents, if applicable.

Maintain necessary records on students (e.g. developmental records, accident reports,

documentation for funding agencies).

Conduct parent meetings/conferences as needed.

Participate in professional conferences, training programs and continuing education as

required.

Receive, review, process, file and submit a variety of documents and reports (e.g. IEP's/IFSP's, goal sheets, data sheets, attendance records, medication records, daily notes, lesson plans, accident reports).

Adhere to the principles of the LifeSpan ChOICES Training Curriculum.

Ensure that the students are engaged and supervised at all times; interact with the students with eye contact, smile, handshake, pat on the back, etc.

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all LifeSpan safety standards and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises the teacher assistants.
