There are 2-3 open positions titled Quality Engineer. These are hands-on roles as part of a large "zero defect initiative" (ZDI) to review and analyze failure and defect activity in their products. Product line is safetly equipment. Mainly SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatus) used by front line workers (Police, Firefighters, Hospital personnel) and military.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Technical Contributions. Following the Zero Defects Initiative (ZDI), perform the following:
Collection of failure data from sources such as Scrap, Rework, Warranty, Customer Complaints, Capability Studies.
Update PFMEA based on analysis of data collected.
Perform line by line of updated PFMEA review on the production line.
Update CP and Operator Instructions based on Risks Identified.
Develop, validate and implement error-proofing techniques to mitigate risks identified in PFMEAs.
Understand Quality Engineering principles, review and evaluate data and test information, conduct tests, and reports findings to ZDI team for implementation. K Implements and monitor new processes for new product designs or changes in existing designs; verify processes specifications, functional and /or environmental test requirements and need for poke yoke assembly process and fixtures.
Basic Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum five (3) years of Manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Must have hands on working knowledge of the following skill sets:
Process control plans
Capability Studies
CP vs CPK, Assembly processes
Poke Yoke processes
PFMEA, FMEA
APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
MSA (Measurement System Analysis) (GRR's)
SPC
GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Computer Skills (Word, Lotus Notes, Lotus 123, and Freelance)
Desired quality engineering background from Safety, Safety Products, Aerospace, Automotive, Assembled products, Electromechanical products, Textiles, etc.
