Description/Job Summary FLEET TECHNICIAN

The overall purpose of this position, i.e. what it accomplishes at Perdue and / or why the position exists is:

To diagnose equipment failures and service and make repairs to the equipment in compliance with OEM specifications and DOT safety regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities/Duties

PRINCIPAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Describe below the four to six major responsibilities of this position which must be fulfilled with or without reasonable accommodation in order to achieve the essential purpose of the position.

NOTE: Must be proficient 4 of 17 below responsibilities.

1 Diagnose failures and make repairs on cooling systems.

2 Diagnose failures and make repairs on intake systems.

3 Diagnose failures and make repairs on exhaust systems.

4 Diagnose failures and make repairs on lubrication systems.

5 Diagnose failures and make repairs on electrical systems.

6 Diagnose failures and make repairs on brake (air & hydraulic) systems.

7 Diagnose failures and make repairs on suspension (air & spring) systems.

8 Diagnose failures and make repairs on front end & alignment systems.

9 Diagnose failures and make repairs wheels, rims, hubs and tires.

10 Diagnose failures and make repairs power train components (engine, clutch, transmission, drive line, and differentials)

11 Perform oxygen and acetylene welding repairs.

12 Perform cab, body and frame repairs.

13 Diagnose failures and make repairs on air conditioning systems.

14 Diagnose failures and make repairs on refrigeration systems.

15 Diagnose failures and make repairs on hydraulic systems.

16 Perform preventative maintenance as required.

17 Provide training to mechanics at lower levels as directed by supervisor.

18 Perform other task as assigned.

DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES

Describe the decision-making authority of this position. Include the nature and extent of supervision available and the point at which higher approval is required.

Routine decisions within the scope of the job responsibilities. All other decisions referred to supervisor.

OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This position spends 0% of a normal workweek supervising other associates.

This position spends 0% of a normal workweek training and developing other associates.

This position spends 15% of a normal workweek performing technical analyses and writing reports.

This position spends 85% of a normal workweek in production or maintenance related activities.

Required Qualifications

The minimum formal education preferred to be considered for this position is (indicate level and years of education and if degree is required what degree): High School Graduate or GED preferred

ACE certifications a plus

Specialized or technical knowledge, credentials or licensing required for the position include:

Strong reading, writing and analytical skills

Strong mechanical skills

Possess a valid state drivers license with no restrictions

Possess mechanics hand tools or agree to purchase tools via company

The minimum number of years and / or months of prior or related experience preferred to be considered for the position: 2 years

Details

The environmental factors and physical requirements of this position include the following:

Able to move freely throughout the garage facility to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 50'), carrying tools and equipment (0-100 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment. Able to make road service calls in all weather conditions.
