Working Mom & Dad are seeking a part-time teacher/tutor for in-person assistance to two students (3rd grade & Pre-K) for their virtual coursework and supplemental instruction. We are looking for assistance mornings from 9 - 1, in person, in our home, to help our children stay engaged in school activities and make the learning process fun.
Start date: Monday, August 17 (preferred but flexible)
Job Specifications:
Start kids on morning coursework & activities and make sure work is completed to requested standards
3rd grade student: ensure completion of WCPSS Virtual Academy coursework, and provide private tutoring for areas that may prove challenging
Pre-K student: assist with offline workbook-based coursework we provide, as well as engage in age-appropriate playtime and educational activities (ABCs, numbers, sight words, basic spelling)
Keep kids focused on coursework and engaged in virtual learning, helping as needed
Ensure kids have appropriate break times for games, outdoor activities, dancing in the living room, and similar recess / mental break activities
Serve a snack and lunch (food provided by us for kids and yourself), and basic clean-up (dishes into sink, wipe counter)
Regular progress reports for both children, accounting time spent in activities, their overall understanding of subjects, and their focus, progress, and challenges
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Must love children!
Must be comfortable around friendly pets (1 cat, 1 dog)
Must have reliable transportation
Able to multitask and manage both children effectively
Must have a firm grasp of spoken and written English language
Teaching-related college experience or Bachelors degree
Able to use a computers and tablets, assisting children with basic functionality of their devices
Comfortable arranging breaks in coursework for physical activity (backyard games, neighborhood walks, etc.)
Mom and Dad will be in the house with you and the children during the working hours, but will be working our own remote-work jobs.
