The Role

The Statistical Computing Environment is a new business venture for Veeva, a startup with the backing of a much larger company.

The VP of Engineering will recruit and lead the team that will build out the SCE offering, overseeing the day to day operations of a growing team of software engineers and architects.

You will work closely with our product management and strategy teams to first deliver an MVP to the market, and then rapidly add features in tri-annual releases.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the team : recruiting, employee development, tools and processes, quality, and delivery.

What You’ll Do

Build, manage, and organize the team of professional developers and QA engineers responsible for delivering the SCE product to the market

Work closely with product management, strategy, architecture, and our early adopter customers to determine the features in the MVP

Oversee the day to day activities of all team members, acting as a player-coach, diving into technical work where needed

Provide technical and managerial coaching to the team based on your extensive hands-on development and managerial experience

Participate in the SCE business’ leadership team, helping guide strategic decisions on product direction and timing

Manage the hiring process for the team

Requirements

10+ years as a team lead of software and QA engineers

Experience working in a SaaS or web-hosted software development environment

Ability to communicate with the product management team to make determinations around appropriate architecture and programming languages

Hands-on experience in a variety of contemporary programming languages, including Java and Python

Track record of successful development planning, management, and quality, on-time delivery of software products that scaled to millions of dollars in revenue, with thousands of users over time

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage technical talent to see beyond their day to day tasks and connect the work to the larger success of the Company

Nice to Have

Extensive experience in hiring and developing a high performing team

Experience developing software products with highly technical end-users

Experience developing software tools with metadata-driven workflows

Experience with SAS, R, and other statistical programming languages

Experience with Linux, Java, and C

  • Position Overview: Supporting the Phase 2+3 team on various tasks related to submissions and integration work. The team is preparing for a FEB2025 submission and are working to build up the team to help manage the workload. We are looking for Independent Contributors with the ability to lead projects/studies but must be comfortable in a 100% hands-on position. Specific TA experience is preferred but not required Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, scratch programming environment, and willing to wear multiple hats. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required.
