Please note we are unable to offer relocation assistance for this role.We are looking for a self-starting, intellectually curious person to join our team as a Worldwide Strategic Events Professional.In this role, you are part of a nimble cross-functional team that helps communicate the mission of IBM Research and its scientists to the world. Your job will be to build and execute an events strategy that sets IBM Research apart from the competition. You will drive impact to the organization by contributing to how we think about, plan for, and create impactful experiences that showcase the technical innovation of the IBM researcher.The ideal candidate is organized and possesses exceptional event strategy, project management, and event execution skills. You will be expected to own and drive multiple portions of the event experience; balancing simultaneous events and supporting execution of the entire program to meet objectives. The areas of focus for this event specialist role include all aspects of IBM Research's event strategy in multiple pillars of research, including quantum computing, AI and industry research.Responsibilities:
Build and execute exceptional experiences that showcase IBM Research at proprietary and third-party events with a focus on differentiating IBM globally.
Drive recruitment for and interest in IBM Research by creating experiences that engage diverse audiences, build the brand and extend the reach of our scientists.
Partner with a cross functional team to develop content, messaging and surround elements (digital, social) for key events.
Develop an event resource kit that will enable key constituencies to self-serve at smaller events.
Apply analytics and insights to better understand event attendees, their behaviors & interests to improve engagement, driving the continual optimization of future events, strategies, and plans.
Identify the right tools and use data-driven insights to inform event planning and strategy optimization, helping determine which future events to participate in and in what capacity.
Manage logo approvals for IBM Research.
Work directly with researchers on planning needs and requirements, make recommendations leveraging global assets, best practices and tools.
Help manage agency relationships and make sure services delivery is in line with expectations.
Act as the worldwide IBM Research events liaison to all regions and divisions.
Travel to events around the world when needed to help manage execution.
Manage logo approvals for IBM Research.
Handle expense pre-approval (EPAT) requests and submits purchase order requests.
At least 8 years of experience in event planning and production (e.g. conferences, tradeshows, special events); preferably in the Technology sector.
Excellent organizational skills, timeline management, and ability to multi-task without missing deadlines.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in meetings, email and comfortable in formal discussions with executives.
Adept at using metrics to assess ROI and performance.
Experience using company systems to manage projects, e.g. EPAT, Airtable, Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
Agile mindset and flexibility to collaborate with varied styles and personalities.
