Self-Help is seeking a Director, Impact Management & Assessment to join our team! The Director, Impact Management & Assessment will manage how we define and measure impact and report to internal and external audiences. They will facilitate the development of Self-Help’s impact strategy and bring expertise in data collection, analysis, program evaluation, research methodology and policy change along with a track record in collaborating across teams and organizations, managing complex projects that are, at times, under-resourced. Successful candidates will be pragmatic and strive to demonstrate Return on Investment (ROI) of Self-Help’s programs and impact assessments, from community, Self-Help’s, and funder perspectives.

-Lead and promote impact planning, collection and use.

-Facilitate the development of Self-Help’s impact strategy and goals in partnership with leadership, business/operational teams, and with Self-Help's -Center for Responsible Lending and Data Intelligence Group.

-Move Self-Help’s impact assessment beyond outputs to outcomes when strategically important and feasible.

-Develop and test hypotheses related to Self-Help’s nascent theory of change and represent findings in writing and in creative data visualization for use in internal program strategy and external communications and fundraising.

-Serve as internal consultant to help program teams and executive staff craft data and outcome feedback loops to:

1.communicate their impact

2.improve products and programs

3.inform Self-Help’s strategic planning

4.Design and prepare impact reports and analysis.

5.Support fundraising team in designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks for grant proposals, and in reporting results using those frameworks.

-Collaborate with Self-Help’s marketing and communications team to convey our impact in print and digital media, using quantitative and qualitative data.

-Support product and service teams with programmatic impact assessments.

-Stay abreast of impact field: research, tools and best practices and current research on affordable housing, commercial lending and small business development, predatory lending, asset building, financial capability and economic mobility.

-Understand policy needs to craft useful data analysis of our lending, connecting policy to practice and identify how our research and evaluation efforts can complement our advocacy agendas.

-Create and foster relationships with peer organizations, research organizations and universities to support Self-Help research and impact evaluation work.

-Represent Self-Help at conferences and other peer gatherings to formally present on impact work and informally share with funders, investors and other partners.

-Supervise staff members (e.g., program evaluation specialist, interns) in supportive roles and coach them to promote their professional and personal development.

-Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use ofbusinesses owned by women and people of color in third party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services

-Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.

Credentials, Experience and Skills:

-Master’s degree in economics, economic development, sociology, anthropology, statistics, policy, business or related field OR equivalent related experience.

7-10 years’ of experience as an impact analyst and evaluator, including relevant education.

-Strong commitment to our mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.

-Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.

-Highly motivated individual who is intellectually curious, adept at multi-tasking, and eager to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

-Working knowledge of database design and principles.

-Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI and SQL a plus.

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

-Experience with or willingness to learn surveying software.

-Superior oral and written communications skills, including experience synthesizing research findings.

-Strong project management skills.

-Understanding of basic concepts around lending, financial services and information security.

-Understanding of behavioral economics.

-Ability to view data/impact through a racial equity lens and an understanding of structural racism.

-Deep embrace of “2x2” program analysis with impact and financial sustainability on the axes.

-Experience in effectively supervising the work of others.

-Ability to build and maintain productive relationships throughout organization.

-Ability and willingness to travel, periodically, approximately 15% of time.

-Ability and willingness to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.
