Our growing medical practice is hiring an experienced part-time Front Desk Associate. The ideal candidate has strong administrative skills and previous experience with surgery scheduling and/or billing/insurance. A successful Associate will be mature, dependable, have excellent time management skills, be detail oriented, efficient at multitasking, and have the ability to engage with patients in a professional and friendly manner.
Primary duties include speaking with patients on the phone, scheduling patient appointments, greeting patients and other business associates, authorizing insurances, collecting monies and providing a variety of front desk administrative duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner
Answers phone, schedules appointments
Checks in patients ensuring all pertinent information is entered in to the practice management system
Inputs new patient information, procedures, and charges into the medical record/practice management system
Checks out all patients, collects payment, and gives receipt
Schedules return appointments for patients
Assists in making referral appointments with clinical staff
Maintains office appearance (including cleaning and tidying) to ensure cleanliness, patient comfort
Assists in other front office duties at the request of physician or co-workers to help build an efficient team
Maintains a file system necessary for proper organization of work
Follows confidentiality policies and adheres to HIPAA privacy rules
Follows practice policies, assists in providing routine information
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Billing duties:
Performs billing and bookkeeping functions including collecting payments, posting and balancing daily sheets of transactions
Files and works to get prior authorizations, collect claims, and appeal insurance denials
Assists in explaining patient accounts
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent required
Front desk experience (1 year) required, prior medical front desk and billing experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with public, visitors, and staff
Meticulous attention to detail
Computer skills
Ability to operate office equipment
Ability to explain billing and fees to patients
Knowledge of medical record requirements
Good organization skills for filing and maintaining information and correspondence
Knowledge of medical office procedures
Presents/maintains a professional image
Adaptability and willingness to change with the needs of the position
Job Type: part-time only
Work schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
