PIPELINE OPERATORRequisition #: 190000LYJob SummaryAssist with or perform activities related to gas and/or liquids pipeline system operations.Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assist with and/or perform operations and maintenance activities on systems including compressor stations, gas storages, dehydration facilities, pumping facilities, measurement facilities, and related equipment which may include, but is not limited to:
Startup and shutdown
Pigging
Collecting liquids
Changing charts
Gauging tanks
Locating and marking lines
Monitoring cathodic protection/basic pipe coatings
Leakage survey/patrolling pipelines
Blowing drips
Dispatching line locates
Construction watch
Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
Exchange information regarding pipeline operations, maintenance, measurement, and other activities with public/governmental officials, employees, contractors, customers, producers, and land owners.
Calculate, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including, but not limited to:
Gas/liquid flow and quality
Maintenance and/or repair logs
Samples (gas/liquids)
Pipeline/corrosion activities
Appropriate regulatory requirements
Construction inspection
Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Working knowledge to operate and maintain pipeline systems and related equipment utilized in natural gas and liquids gathering and transmission systems.
Working knowledge of various field functions including measurement, cathodic protection, and compressor/pump station operations.
Demonstrated ability to assist in maintenance and repair of equipment.
Working knowledge and training related to:
Company and governmental operating/safety procedures and environmental regulations
Characteristics of natural gas and gas liquids
Pigging pipelines, blowing drips, gauging tanks, and collecting liquids
Construction methods
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and complete work assignments.
Working knowledge of patrolling pipelines, performing leakage surveys, and locating/marking lines.
Working knowledge of valves and dehydration equipment, scrubbers, and separators.
Working knowledge of cathodic protection/corrosion control activities.
Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Working knowledge of use and function of tools and equipment including computers and related software.
Working knowledge reading and interpreting maps, drawings, plats, atlas pages, manuals, policies, procedures, dials, and gauges.
Working knowledge to prepare and maintain logs and records.
Experience interacting and communicating effectively.
Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions.
Certification and Licensing
Applicable driver's license for travel to other locations.
Applicable certifications as required by position.
Physical Requirements
Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10‑15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 3-5 times a day; up to 30 pounds 3-5 times a day; push or pull objects requiring over 50 pounds exertion 10-15 times a day.
Travel over uneven terrain including, but not limited to:
Mud
Gravel
Sand
Rocks
Ice
Snow
Walk, stand, and kneel/stoop for extended periods.
Climb and maintain balance on elevated working surfaces.
Ability to work in confined areas.
React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
Able to operate tools and equipment as required.
Ability to handle various chemicals.
Visual Requirements
Ability to differentiate between colors.
Sufficient to perform job duties.
