Java Architect - Signet Jewelers / Zale-Rate Hike

Location: Akron, OH (they are remote until at least June 2021, so candidates can be located anywhere but must commit to relocating to Akron, OH if they get the job.)
Contract to Hire position (must be able to convert, , EAD)
The Java Architect is responsible for design and implementation of enterprise class business applications and integration solutions for Manufacturing and eComm Fulfillment.
Architect will be responsible for upgrading or defining new architecture systems to support future and current Java applications.
Essential Functions:
Architecture Strategy & Planning 40%
Participate and lead customer meetings to gathers requirements and architect high level solution.
Create technical designs that support Manufacturing and Ecommerce Fulfillment applications; be a subject matter expert and deconstruct complex legacy monolithic applications and create technical solutions.
Collaborate closely with other Solution Delivery/Infrastructure Architects to identify hardware and software needs to accommodate the company's architectural goal.
Develop, review, maintain, advocate, and own a set of architecture documents, plans, and roadmaps.
Participate in tactical problem resolution of critical systems including participation in crisis management analysis and recommendation.
Solution Implementation - 40%
Own and lead initiatives to define, design and implement solutions which includes reference architectures and estimates
Prepare technical design documents, presentations for architecture review board, reports, and other technical artifacts
Collaborate with various business, IT teams and vendors to elicit requirements and implement solutions
Lead peer review of design and code to ensure that code adheres to conventions and standards
Lead performance testing efforts to validate flexibility, stability, and scalability of the Java environment
Work with IT Project Requester or PM to develop the Technical Feasibility Assessment (TFA) document for Funding Requests (Capex and Opex)
Proactively identify and manage inter-project dependencies, priorities, risks, and issues
Acumen - 20%
Develop and maintain knowledge of company's core business processes, strategic business objectives, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education Required: College degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study. B.S. or B.A. preferred.
Required Experience:
Previous 5-7 year work experience as a Software or Java Architect
Advanced knowledge of software architecture
Experience with following technology:
o Java EE (J2EE) & Java SE/ Spring, JPA/Hibernate, SOAP and REST API
o Angular/JavaScript/Typescript/CSS/HTML5
o Oracle PL/SQL
o Linux/HP-UX shell scripting
o Java EE Application Server Platforms (JBoss, WebSphere)
Experience with following tools:
o AppDynamics
o Cacti
o Nagios
Ability to solve complex software system issues
Experience with microservice architecture
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and to interface on business and technical concepts
Experience in release management and leading peer code review
