Job Summary:

Assembles prototype printed circuit boards, and/or the rework/repair of printed circuit board assemblies under the guidance of a senior engineer/technician or project manager, and the applicable technical documentation. Such activities may include the following as well as other duties as assigned.

Principal Responsibilities:

Assembly of printed circuit boards, (PCBs), or modification of printed circuit board assemblies involving SMT and/or through-hole components;

Hand stenciling PCBs and hand-placing all components including QFN, DFNs and BGAs;

Hand soldering all through-hole and SMT parts to IPC-A-610 standard;

Working from Bills of Material (BOMs) and drawings provided by Senior Engineers or customers;

Making color-coded build sheets from BOMs and drawings per AVID practice to organize assembly/rework;

Ability to use soldering iron, heat gun, PCB washer, drying oven competently;

Use of bench top reflow oven;

Provides estimates for completion of tasks and activities.

Foundational knowledge of technical principles, concepts and standards acquired via academic instruction and/or relevant work experience of substantially the same level;

Develops solutions to defined tasks, typical problems and projects appropriate in scope and complexity. May be solved by the application of specialized technical knowledge, concepts or theories;

Work is usually performed independently, or with minimal supervision, and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Receives initial direction and work may be reviewed for accuracy and quality;

Interacts mostly with immediate management, project leaders and other professionals within the department or function;

Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively with other technicians/assemblers in a small lab environment;

Actions typically affect own work assignments and department but erroneous decisions or failure to accomplish work may require some assistance or resources from within the department to remedy;

Confident, self-motivated and takes responsibility for quality result and efficient completion of assigned work

Willing to learn new skills.

Work Experience:

Typically less than 2 years with Bachelors degree or equivalent

Education and Certification(s):

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Distinguishing Characteristics:

IPC-610-A, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-J-STD desired, but will train to certification
