Job Description:Maintenance 1F

Plans and performs a series of operations or duties requiring considerable initiative, ingenuity, and judgment under general supervision.

Maintains and repairs a variety of machine tools, special purpose machines, foundry equipment, holding jigs and fixtures, and mechanical equipment.

Lays out and performs difficult machining operations on lathes, planers, shapers, milling machines, and drill presses.

Makes repairs and replacements on parts with precise dimensions; troubleshoots and determines necessary repairs, tears down, reassembles, sets-up and tests machinery and equipment.

Performs chiseling and filing when using precision measuring instruments.

Makes holding jigs and fixtures; may work out original production set-ups.

Works from verbal instructions, samples, or own measurements.

Performs plumbing and pipefitter responsibilities.

Makes calculations for layouts, installations, and maintenance.

Services a wide variety of complex industrial electrical equipment, such as: intricate automatic and electronic controls along with other electrical equipment throughout the plants.

Determines if problems are electrical or mechanical and remedies as soon as possible to avoid delays and shutdowns.

Responds to emergency calls at any time.

Repairs and builds the following: machines and belts, builds flasks for foundry, builds hand truck bodies, etc.

Makes repairs to the elevator, floors, bins, maintenance, and installs machinery.

Operates band saw, rip saw, jointer and drill press; may use carpenter’s hand tools, hand wrenches, hydraulic jack, hoist, and general riggers equipment.

Performs welding and cutting when required. Cut, weld, repair, patching chutes, hoppers, and pans.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of high or low voltage electrical work.

Applicable level of welding knowledge and skill to perform various welding functions.

Interpret blueprints, written specifications, charts, and tables.

Extensive knowledge of pipefitting functions.

Must be able to run power industrial equipment including tow motors, high lifts, sweepers, scrubbers, golf carts, lawn mower, tractor, etc.

Journeyman’s card required or equivalent years of experience.

2-5 years of maintenance experience preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent.
