Responsibilities

Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of the work, candidates for this position need to be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret level security clearance.

Perspecta is responsible for performing launch vehicle Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) analyses in various engineering disciplines including flight mechanics, flight controls, thermal/propulsion, loads & dynamics, structures, and flight software in support of mission integration and mission assurance activities for National Security Space and Intelligence Community missions flying on the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) [formerly Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV)] Program including Atlas V and Delta IV or New Entrants such as Falcon 9,etc.

Major responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:
  • Develop models and perform launch vehicleintegrated thermal,payload fairing aeroheating, and propellant tank/feedlines fluids/thermalIV&V analyses for theLaunch Vehicle missions using in-house or/and industry-standard commercial simulation codes.
  • Interface with Launch Service Provider (LSP) personnel and resolve related technical issues in support of mission integration activities.
  • Participate in relatedLSP technical reviews and support discipline analysis working group meetings.
  • Document and present responsible IV&V activities and analyses.
  • Provide technical support to the management as requested.

Qualifications

Requires:
  • 5 to 8 years with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA or 0 to 2 years with PhD.
  • Strong technical understanding in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass/heat transfer
  • Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of the work, candidates for this position need to be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret level security clearance.
  • Excellent capability in model development, computer programming, and data analysis
  • Working experience in industry-standard commercial simulation codes such as Thermal Desktop, Sinda-Fluint,and ANSYS-CFD is particularly interested. Experience in launch vehicles is preferred
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Familiar with Fortran, Autocad, and Matlab
