The NASA PACE program is seeking a qualified Network Security Engineer to provide Subject Matter expertise for improving and maintaining the security posture of the Facilities Directorate IT and OT Networks at NASA Glenn Research Center. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, Implement/Configure, Enhance, and Document IT/OT Network Policies, Procedures, and Designs to meet NASA system security, operational and safety requirements
  • Review IT/OT Network Security Policies and Procedures to implement improvements
  • Evaluate, Provide, & Maintain Network IT Security Tools
  • Evaluate and monitor radio frequency spectrum in facilities for security vulnerabilities
  • Conduct periodic vulnerability scans of networks
  • Conduct periodic, non-destructive penetration testing.
  • Evaluate & Maintain Network Logs
  • Perform periodic Network security assessments (informal internal audits)
  • Maintain errata for Network devices in order to track possible security vulnerabilities
  • Develop and Maintain Return to Service Plans which include recommended sparing options
  • Develop Life cycle plans, proactive obsolescence planning, and warranty monitoring for standard Network systems and software
  • Develop, Document, and Maintain “cafeteria style” levels of standard, supported Network equipment (minimize one-off systems, maximize use of spares)
  • Investigate and, when necessary, implement applicable Engineering Change Orders/Factory Change Orders (ECO/FCOs) as approved by the Government.
  • Troubleshoot and return to service, in a timely manner, complex data network faults (hardware and software) in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources including test equipment.
  • Select, Configure, Document, Trouble-shoot, and Resolve issues with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Network Intrusion systems & Encryption Devices to meet applicable security, operational and safety requirements
  • Select, Configure, Document, Trouble-shoot, and Resolve issues with Network Media to meet applicable security, operational and safety requirements
  • Develop and Provide Training for End Users on the setup/configuration, first tier troubleshooting, and backup of IT/OT Networks and the associated hardware.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • 5+ years of direct Network engineering experience in a large enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of standard Network design practices
