Job Description

Responsible for auditing all goods received from our suppliers on a daily basis, as well as performing miscellaneous tasks as required within the quality department per the direction of the Sr. Quality Supervisor. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

The following accountabilities are to be performed in accordance with the spirit and philosophy contained in the document, ITW Powertrain Mission Statement, and in accordance with company policies:

1. Ensure our supply base meets ITW Powertrain’s expectations including tooling, equipment, and purchased component suppliers.

A. Purchased Components/Raw Materials

i. PPAP submissions, including timeliness and accuracy

ii. Production capabilities regarding quality of their products

iii. Ensure that purchased component suppliers systems meet ITW Powertrain’s expectations and our suppliers endorse continual process improvements.

iv. Manage activities related to Supplier development from launch through production

B. Assist in audits of all tooling and equipment suppliers

i. Ensure that they meet ITW Powertrain’s expectations

ii. Ensure they are following required quality standards as it relates to tooling and equipment automotive guidelines.

iii. Assist in the approval process of all new tooling and equipment suppliers, includes on site auditing.

iv. Assist in identifying significant environmental aspects of goods and services used by the organization and communicating relevant procedures and requirements to suppliers.

2. Conduct various receiving inspection audits per Receiving Inspection Instructions; maintain certifications and supplier quality status reporting.

3. Develop supply base to ensure quality spills are permanently resolved to meet ITW Powertrain’s expectations.

4. Provide direction and assistance to support facility personnel on supplier related issues including new Product Launch or production quality concerns.

5. Responsible to follow up for closure on all open supplier issues as they relate to corrective actions, ECN’s and PPAP activities, certifications, quality requirements and supplier charge backs.

6. Provide direction and leadership to all ITW Powertrain facilities regarding supplier activities.

7. Prepare monthly Supplier Quality Reports with response follow-up when applicable.

8. Responsible for adherence to the company quality, environmental, and health & safety policy, procedures and with the environmental management system.

9. Perform responsible administrative work requiring independent judgment with speed and accuracy for the Quality Manager and other designated staff.

10. Create and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Process Flow documents for all products.

11. Create and maintain operator & auditor instructions manuals, including daily inspection logs.

12. Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

13. Perform other duties as directed by the NA Regional Quality Manager.

Qualifications

This person should possess knowledge in APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and Problem Solving.

This person should have 2-3 years of experience with involvement in the quality field including production launch.

Detail-oriented person with good communications skills (written and verbal), who has the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced professional environment. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, business letter and report writing techniques, and proofreading. Must be able to work accurately in a stressful situation, able to be very flexible concerning day-to-day activity/work, and make good judgment decisions when necessary.

This position works within established guidelines under the general direction of the Sr Quality Supervisor receiving written and oral instructions.

Primary contacts for this position will be within Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing, in order to collect, develop, and maintain internally the focus on quality. Therefore, it is essential that this individual possess good communication skills, as well as, maintain confidentiality, flexibility, and professionalism.

This position will assist in the functions within a plastic injection molding environment. The Receiving Quality Technician may at times be exposed to manufacturing floor conditions. The Receiving Quality Technician must observe safety and security precautions and become familiar with procedures to follow if problems arise.

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to safely operatea motor vehicle.
