Job Summary:
Perform commercial railroad construction labor work based on the requirements of the project. Participate in safety meetings, training sessions that may be required as directed.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Functions:
Specific duties may include: hand excavating and grading, hand setting of railroad spikes, hand tightening of bolts, pulling/removing of railroad spikes using hand or power tools, handling and installing creosote treated railroad ties, connecting heavy steel railroad rails, aiding driver and foreman with loading/unloading of Railroad equipment and/or materials, general site clean-up.
Be safety conscious; work as a team member to ensure that the entire crew works in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company Safety program, State/Federal OSHA & FRA Regulations. Take direction from corporate safety personnel.
Perform additional assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
Pass pre-hire and random drug screening
Must have dependable transportation to various job sites
Labor work will be performed outside in all types of weather, temperatures, and conditions. This position is very physical in nature and regular activities will include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, performing repetitive motions and lifting up to approximately one hundred pounds.
