Joy Machines Bike Shop is hiring an assistant manager!
We are searching for a skilled mechanic who is passionate and knowledgeable about bikes. Qualified applicants must also be committed to providing superlative customer service in an inviting and inclusive environment.
Applicants with at least 2 years shop experience are highly preferred. However, we will be willing to consider the resumes of any individuals who are really enthusiastic about bikes and who possess the right personality and willingness to learn on the fly.
Customer service needs:
Willingness to serve and make to feel welcome a diverse range of customers
Ability to explain mechanical issues in an easy to understand way
Wide ranging knowledge (and/or enthusiasm to learn) about bikes and all manner of bike accoutrements, with a special focus on the realms of commuting/touring
Ability to size and fit customers on new bikes for sale
Mechanical needs:
Assess and estimate repairs
Perform repairs in a timely fashion
New bike builds
We are primarily a commuter shop and work on many low- to mid-end bikes
Problem-solving and perseverance necessary to fix bikes that other shops might consider unfixable or not worth fixing
Management role:
Perform open/close duties on occasion (typically 1 or 2 days per week)
Communicate clearly and consistently with store Manager to ensure smooth shop operations
Oversee and direct small staff (1 to 2 people) throughout daily operations

We are primarily looking for a year-round, full-time (40 hrs/week) employee, but would consider hiring someone with only part-time or seasonal availability. Weekend availability is essential. Pay rate depends on experience.
