New Directions Beauty Institute is looking to hire a part-time Cosmetology Instructor to work evenings,

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:00pm- 9:00pm and every other Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm.

JOB SUMMARY: The Instructor must be on time and in class before students arrive. Instructor is responsible for conducting classes in a professional manner and providing floor coverage which conforms to the Institute’s policies and procedures. The Instructor will maintain a professional appearance and conduct which supports a positive learning environment. The Instructor will ensure the Institute’s curriculum and lesson plans are followed to provide consistency in the educational experience for each student. The Instructor will conduct mock tests, report grades and attendance and will provide student assistance, as needed, to maximize the successful completion and licensing of each student. The Instructor will maintain current industry skills through continuing education, master classes, and practical application.

JOB DUTIES:

• Instruct students in accordance with Institute guidelines and ensure the use of the approved curriculum, Business Fundamentals, Lesson Plans, visual aids and activities as required

• A demonstration using a mannequin or live model will be performed by the Instructor when teaching all practical classes

• Emphasize safety, sanitation, work methods, productivity, and speed when teaching all practical classes

• Follow all classroom procedures as outlined in the Institute’s Policies, Procedures & Conduct

• Aesthetics and Nail Technology instructor: post daily to their students

• Instructor assigned to Advanced Freshman: post daily schedule of assignments and make sure their performance sheets reflect completion of assignments

• Accurately post student attendance and make sure student uniforms are in conformance on a daily basis

• Properly administer theory exams and make sure tests are scored and entered into grade book with 24 hours

• Monitor students for completion board assignments, service to customers, or completion of approved academic study assignments and that students minimize non-productive activities while on clinic floor

• Evaluate students work and sign client tickets and performance sheets after each service or board activity is performed

• Monitor students for accuracy in the completion of curriculum cards and performance sheets daily. Request for backdating must be in conformance with the Institute’s Policies and Procedures

• Sign students out and in for breaks and monitor students to ensure student lunches are taken and that students are not leaving the building while on the clock

• Theory and Freshman Instructor’s remain in classroom with your students, unless otherwise instructed by Lead or Senior Instructor

• When teaching, stand, and utilize the whiteboard

• Assist students in keeping their curriculum cards current by signing daily

• Obtain student’s signature on all reports submitted to their file

• Treat students and fairly and adhere to Disciplinary Matrix in managing student behavior

• Help create a positive atmosphere which results in a minimum 75% student attendance, skill development in client care and retention, and a completion rate of 65% or greater

• Conduct state board preparation exams during each students final 300 hours and provide each pre-graduate with client assignments in areas where additional skills are needed with the goal that 85% of students sitting for the exam, receive a passing score

• Provide additional training, testing, or demonstration, as needed to assist students requiring remedial assistance

• Circulate throughout the training floor to ensure the orderly delivery of client services, adequate student supervision, and assistance to students in developing practical skills and techniques

• Monitor student performance sheets and grade and initial only work which you saw student perform. Post students grades and notify Lead if below 75%.

• Ensure all client work is accurately reflected on their receipt and any changes are paid for and reported through the receptionist. Chemicals dispensed must match service reflected on ticket.

• Ensure all students practical work on clients and manikins is dated, graded, and reflected on both performance sheet and curriculum sheet.

• When clients are not being served, provide additional floor training (demos) or student assistance to ensure students remain busy at all times

• Maintain classroom and client services areas in a sanitary and businesslike condition

• Maintain a professional appearance by following the Institute’s dress standards

• Maintain required licensing and complete required Continuing Education Units (CEU’s)

• Attend required training and staff meetings as scheduled – ALL MANDATORY

• Must purchase textbook, Course Management Guide, Ohio Law book and if P.I.L. Master Educator Book within first 3 weeks of hire

• Instructor must bring all their tools: example but not limited to: blow dryer, shears, irons, stove, combs, brushes, rods, rollers, nail products etc.
