Position Purpose: The System Specialist is responsible for the engineering, build, installation / configuration, operation, maintenance and support of the OSUP IT desktop/server environments to ensure stability, reliability and acceptable performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administers OSUP SCCM suite including devices, user/device collections, monitoring & the software library in accordance with OSUMC standards.
  • Represents OSUP in meetings on Network and Server infrastructure with OSUMC.
  • Builds/Deploys software packages using SCCM
  • Builds/Deploys Active Directory and third party server packages (print server, monitoring tools, etc).
  • Install and maintain general business applications including Microsoft Office products and OSUP-specific business applications such as vendor-specific terminal emulators & software
  • Maintain PC-level network connectivity including maintenance of the general user network account.
  • Support upper-tier PC hardware issues including the installation and maintenance of internal hardware upgrades such as memory, hard drives or video cards, and external peripherals such as modems and printers.
  • Provide advanced technical customer support for core technologies provided by OSUP IT to potentially include: PC/Server support & administration, network support and other core applications used by OSUP IT in conjunction with OSUWMC.
  • Responsible for desktop integration including the management and support of all the desktops managed by OSUP IT. Responsible for the building and updating of the image, patching of all desktops, packaging of applications for remote delivery, and asset/license management
  • Researches current and developing technologies to provide technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations and requirements of the OSUP desktop/server environments.
  • Responsible for activities related to planning, engineering, researching and evaluating new technology integration, systems development, capacity planning, training and technical support.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and solves complex problems to improve customer satisfaction while providing support documentation and knowledge used by OSUP IT
  • Position serves as a technical support engineer collaborating with desktop, server and helpdesk support teams as related to services provided OSUP IT
  • Reviews and evaluates technology alternatives, and offers system/equipment acquisition and purchase recommendations based on findings.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements: 5 years of PC/Desktop or server support/administration, specializing in Microsoft-based operating systems. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, or as part of a team, under specific deadlines is also needed. All employees are expected to work in a team environment with a diverse group of employees, managers, and outside parties.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field required, or an equivalent amount of education and work experience.

Preferences: Current Microsoft Certified Associate or higher certification, and experience in supporting Mac OS/iOS.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $81,000
