INTRODUCTION:

The Greene Canteen is opening soon and seeking full and part-time kitchen staff who are passionate about produce and healthy food. We are seeking individuals who are available to work approximately 30 hours per week with week and weekend availability and folks who are able to work 15-20 hours per week with week and weekend availability. While we don't have a date of opening, we are anticipating a late March or early April opening.

SUMMARY:

As a member of our team, your role will include preparing and serving Greene Canteen products; creating and maintaining attractive displays; assisting customers with friendly service; and supporting The Greene Canteen's overall vision.

DUTIES:

- Provides friendly and prompt service to customers; answers questions and assists with placing orders.

- Ensures cleanliness of kitchen, storage area, and work area for safety.

- Maintains clean, safe and sanitary kitchen area and equipment.

- Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping shelves and displays clean and well stocked, while continuously checking and ensuring freshness and quality of products.

- Samples products directly to customers.

- Prepares food ingredients and mixes to be used in the production of products.

- Produces dough and a variety of finished baked goods.

- Packages and labels product according to established procedures.

- Follows all The Greene Canteen cash handling policies.

- Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation.

- Follows and complies with established procedures, including weights and measures, food safety, and adheres to safe work practices.

- Examines area regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.

- Requires operating and using equipment such as knives, scales, mixers, ovens, juicers, blenders, food processors, etc.

- Uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Knowledge of produce, food prep experience, baking experience, and customer service experience (preferred)

- Previous experience in retail sales and/or customer service (preferred)

- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team; ability to communicate effectively with customers.

- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.

- Ability to sell proactively.

- Aptitude to gain extensive product knowledge.

- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.

- Effective time management skills.

- Highly motivated with a sense of urgency and the ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment.

- Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to frequently lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

- Requires long periods of standing.

- Work involves controlled temperatures, including ovens and freezers.

COMPENSATION:

$10/hr plus tips and monthly performance bonuses; full-time employees receive supplemental benefits.
