We are currently seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with Claims experience to fill one 3-month contract-to-hire position with a large Insurance client in the Cincinnati area. This is not a remote opportunity.

The primary role of a Senior project manager is to establish and manage enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives and directly manage all aspects of the SDLC for large and complex IT and business projects. Insurance/Claims experience is required. Must have a robust project management experience (5+ years), and experience in Agile/Scrum.

This position is strictly right-to-hire to backfill a FTE turnover, working on an important capstone project for the organization.

Contract Rate: $43 - $72/hr

Salary Conversion: $90,000 - $150,000

Senior IT Project Manager
Description: The primary role of a Senior project manager is to establish and manage enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives and directly manage all aspects of the SDLC for large and complex IT and business projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with architects to ensure alignment
  • Directly manages all aspects of the application development project lifecycle and works with matrix partners to oversee all phases of the project
  • Rigorously manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost and quality parameters
  • Creates realistic project and quality plans that include project interdependencies
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, designs, plans, executes and evaluates work to time, cost and quality targets
  • Estimates costs, time and resource requirements
  • Tracks all activities against the project plan, monitors budget, schedule and resources used and takes action where deviation from agreed tolerances occurs
  • Identifies, assesses and manages risk to the success of the project
  • Identifies, assesses and manages issues and escalates them so that they do not impact project viability
  • Provides regular and accurate status reports to project sponsor, project executives and senior management
  • Participates in procurement management, including contract negotiations and wording
  • Motivates team members and provides individual performance data to resource managers for associate reviews
  • Operates phase containment by ensuring all deliverables for the phase are produced and meet agreed quality criteria, and lessons learned are gathered and documented
  • Collaborates with other managers within the business units to manage expectations
  • Assists in recovery of challenged projects


Required:
  • Experience managing and working with Integration Partners on the implementation of a large-scale claims system
  • Recent experience collaborating, facilitating, leading and coaching Scrum teams
  • Five or more years of recent project management experience, including the management of large and strategic initiatives
  • The ability to quickly earn the trust of others, set direction and approach, resolve conflicts, deliver difficult messages with grace and act with limited information and ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally
  • Communicating effectively through presentations and meeting facilitation
  • Organizing, planning, and managing time
  • Managing engagements with executive-level visibility and interaction
  • Proven ability to manage large project efforts involving multiple business units and support organizations
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects

  • An intermediate level of Microsoft® Office experience

Desired Skills:
  • Agile Project Management experience
  • Familiar with managing insurance industry projects (highly preferred)
  • Familiar with managing large multi-million-dollar projects involving more than 15 team members on efforts with significant business implications across multiple areas
  • SharePoint experience
  • Experience managing iterative projects
  • Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.
