Description: GIS Specialist Knowledgeable of Geographic Information System (GIS) software and technology, specifically ESRI ArcGIS software packages. Experience using ESRI ArcGIS APIs for JavaScript & Python. Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Portal and Portal Applications (WebApps, Operations Dashboards, Experience Builder). Develops and advises on spatial integrations and applications. Utilizes GIS techniques and underlying data to provide a clear understanding of what is happening in a given geographic location. Extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results. Provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree, GIS/Geographic or 3-5 years equivalent education and/or experience. Specialized experience, training, or familiarity with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products. Should have 3 years experience in GIS development for utilities (preferred) or real estate, forest resource, recreational, natural resources, or similar. Should have 3 years experience in integrating geographic, cartographic, remote sensing, and GPS concepts and principles for data analysis. Preferred Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates ability to quickly learn and apply new and complex concepts with limited training and oversight. 1-2 years experience using Python &/or Javascript. Experience with structuring and facilitating key discussions Good communication skills (both verbal and written) Scrum (Agile) experience and understanding with examples of success Strong focus on testing/QA methods specific to GIS development History of high performance and demonstrates leadership potential in team environments Possess a self-starter mentality Seeks opportunities to add value to the product and business teams outside core GIS responsibilities, such as facilitation of UX sessions, leading daily stand ups, backlog refinement and other product meetings, or taking on cross training assignments. Technical competency working with large data sets Familiarity with Oracle and SQL a plus The posting is for the IT Analytics Services Organization and is specifically for an agile project. Analytics Services has existed for 4+ years and is growing to meet the needs of the larger AEP organization. The specific project is a strategic effort that involves evolving business process, data, analytics and visualization.
