Position Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for all aspects of engineering development for assigned products. Provide support from identification of opportunity through the concept generation, quoting, product development and product validation stages and continue to provide technical support to the customer throughout the life of the product. This includes onsite support as required at the customer to finalize requirements and assist with installation and startup of complex systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist commercial team in identifying applications and provide technical support on sales calls.
  • Work with customers to develop products and finalize specifications for their applications.
  • Coordinate all project related activities with internal teams after award of business including requirements management, design, project timing, customer communication, fabrication and component procurement.
  • Generation and approval of designs in both Pro-Engineer and AutoCAD
  • Mechanical and structural calculations, specification of materials, heat treatment, machining and fabrication methods.
  • Specifications for machine controls (both pneumatic and electrical). Outsourcing of electrical panel work as required.
  • Assist with cost estimates for quoting and manage project costs after award of business.
  • Assist purchasing with print requirements to vendors, making sure accurate and adequate information is provided.
  • Coordinate customer buyoff onsite prior to shipping and installation and start up at customer site as required.
  • Participate in technical presentations to educate and train customers.
  • Develop test protocols and support product testing as required.
  • Provide technical support after award of business including troubleshooting and change management.
  • Responsible for all product realization deliverables per the Quality Management System (feasibility, design studies, APQP deliverables as required)
  • Support engineering department on specific projects to support the overall technical growth of the company.
  • Provide internal training for department personnel as required.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in project engineering with direct customer interaction.
  • 5+ years experience with electrical systems and machine controls
  • Strong Drafting and 3D CAD background (Pro-Engineer and AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Project management skills with emphasis on meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
