Title: Digital API Product Owner
Role Summary/Purpose:
The Digital API team supports our users (Users include: external merchants, partners, and internal Synchrony digital agile teams) for services they need to complete their projects. The Digital API's provided to our users are offered through a variety of platforms and channels, the PO must be able to understand complex solutions that can support many users concurrently. Synchrony is seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the identification, development, launch, support, and management of these complex API's. The ideal candidate will be adept at quickly understanding a variety of technologies and platforms, possess a strong digital product and project management background including software development and a proven track record of delivering projects on time. This position will report to the VP, Digital API Product Leader.
Essential Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the wing-to-wing product development cycle including requirements, design, build, test, launch, performance metrics and lifecycle management
Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritize new product features and enhancements and the pathway to market delivery
Leads projects in Agile development methodologies - define story acceptance criteria, manage and prioritize the team backlog, collaborate with the Scrum Master, architects, developers and other subject matter experts and contribute to the overall team vision and roadmap
Coordinates and leads user acceptance testing (UAT)
Effectively communicates project updates across diverse audiences within and outside of the Agile team
Partners with Sales, Marketing and client groups to gather market intelligence and user VOC and translate the results into detailed and actionable B2B product requirements
Employs a collaborative skill set with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes in a cross-functional, matrix organization, and lead/influence at senior levels in the organization
Advocates for autonomous, self-organizing, empowered and continuously improving teams
Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree; high school diploma/GED and 7+ years of Project Management experience in the credit card or financial services industries
7+ years of progressive work experience to include:
o 3+ years of project management experience with a strong record of delivering on time and across functions
o 2+ years of experience as an Agile Product Owner or Scrum Master
Desired Characteristics:
2+ years of experience managing API platforms
2+ years of experience with Agile software development framework, in the Product Owner role
2+ years of experience and knowledge of mobile and web technology and development approaches
Agile Product Owner (CSPO) or Scrum Master (CSM) or comparable certification
Knowledge of Scrum and Scrum tools (i.e. JIRA)
Desire to work in an open, collaborate, and fast-paced environment
Passion for learning about new technologies and identifying ways to drive innovation
Clear thinker who can seek out and identify key data themes and distill the findings into actionable strategies, tactics, and solutions
Ability to define minimal viable product to pilot quickly, validate assumptions and gain feedback
Confident, autonomous decision-maker with demonstrated business prioritization experience, conflict-resolution skills, and ability to thrive in a cross-functional and virtual environment
Strong analytical skills
Demonstrated experience managing scope and expectations of large technology projects including business/technical requirements, budgets, schedules, distributed resources, and dependencies
