Job summary
InquisIT is seeking a Systems Engineering Lead to join us at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The GSP Systems Engineering Lead Implement, operate, maintain, and enhance an on-premises Infrastructure as a Service Offering meeting local service levels according to NIST SP 800-145. They operate, maintaining, and enhance a self-service portal, automation tools, reporting tools and dashboards, reporting system capacity to system owners. They create and maintain system and application blueprints for new portal offerings, provision, operate, and maintain systems and environments in a Hybrid Cloud environment to include Private Clouds such as the on-premises VMware environment, and the Public and Community Clouds to include the IC Commercial Cloud Service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud and other cloud providers approved for Government use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and monitoring services enabling high availability of on-premises and cloud systems and applications
  • Migrate legacy systems and applications to cloud implementations (both on-premises and off-premises)
  • Maintain and operate an Infrastructure as a Service offering using on-premises VMware software and infrastructure.
  • Maintain and operate an External vCenter environment that manages various fit-for-purpose hardware clusters including General Compute (for regular/balanced workloads), Storage Enhanced (for workloads that require additional storage), and GPU enhanced (for workloads that require integrated GPUs).
  • Maintain a vRealize Automation self-service portal. Keep system and application blueprints current and add new blueprints as requested. Integrate automated tasks with the IT Service Management platform (currently Microsoft System Center SAervice Manager and eventually ServiceNow)
  • • Maintain and operate virtualization hardware configurations and firmware to include Dell servers, VxRail servers, vSAN, nvidia GPUs, and other associated equipment.
  • Maintain and sustain vRealize Operations, capacity management, monitoring, and dashboards to monitor the health of the IaaS environment, report on and recommend hardware purchases to meet capacity demands, and create dashboards for management review
  • Expand resources into the cloud if capacity not available on premises
  • Monitor vRealize Operations for the optimization status of the datacenter via operational dashboards, views, and reports.
  • Share content with NASIC's organizational leadership, service owners, business managers via customizable dashboards, views, and reports
  • Monitor Workload Optimization history when vRealize Operations when Workload Optimization is automated.
  • Monitor capacity metering, trending, right-sizing, what-if scenarios, and resource optimization.
  • Monitor OS resources (CPU, disk, memory, and network) and perform root-cause analysis and recommendations for technical issues.
  • Use capacity model-driven analytics for resource monitoring, planning, and optimization applicable to any object, including third-party data.
  • Monitor application dependency mapping, naming, and versioning via automated application discovery and relationship visualization.
  • Implement vSphere and OS-level change, configuration, patch management, hardening, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, support, and troubleshoot scripts for automation of IT-related tasks for all system designs. Test automation in approved test environment. Assist system administrators with integration and implementation of automation.
  • Support and troubleshoot scripts written in Microsoft Powershell, Python, bash, and/or perl. Use automation tools like vRealize Automation, Ansible, puppet, and/or chef. Use software defined techniques and integration with RESTful API’s. Utilize the CI/CD pipeline and Platform processes and tools to test and approve all scripts including using the approved coding repository (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, Subversion)

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Possess and maintain IA Workforce System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level II (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) certification
  • Have one or more of the following certifications: VMware Certified Technical Professional – Data Center Virtualization, Network Virtualization, and or Cloud Management and Automation, Amazon Web Services certified Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administrator
  • 7-10 years of related technical experience with cloud infrastructure, and a minimum of 3 years of IaaS-specific experience in government contracting
  • Demonstrated ability of communicate in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by positively influencing others to achieve result that are in the best interest of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions by assessing the situation to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and making clear decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems by identifying causes, gathering, and processing relevant information, generating possible solutions, and making recommendations and/or resolving the problem

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL Preferred
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Cloud Management and Automation Design
