SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic position is an hourly position, reporting to the Asphalt Plant Leader. The employee maintains production and quality by working closely with the production team to troubleshoot and maintain the working order of all production machines and equipment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • SAFETY
    • Follow and enforce all safety rules, regulations, procedures, training, and initiatives
    • Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas
    • Participate on safety teams
  • QUALITY
    • Accurately enter data into computer systems
    • Confirm information reported on paperwork before submission
    • Monitor and report unusual or suspect material, product, or equipment issues
  • OPERATIONS
    • Ensure the operation of electrical systems and equipment by
      • completing preventive maintenance requirements on PLC's and machinery wiring
      • following schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
      • troubleshooting and repairing
    • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques in a cooperative team environment
    • Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have mechanical knowledge of bearing assemblies, drive assemblies, pumps, and gear boxes
  • Must have welding and cutting skills
  • Must have basic electrical experience
  • Must have pneumatic and hydraulic experience
  • Must be proficient in equipment maintenance, power tools, and technical work
  • Must be able to work with a computer to perform basic data entry
  • Must have the ability to do complex mathematical calculations
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to work flexible shift schedules
  • Must be able to work rotating schedule, if required
  • Must be able to work on call
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility are required


COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

  • Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Boiler license is a plus


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to dust/dirt
  • Exposure to fumes
  • Exposure to materials with the potential to cause serious burns
  • Exposure to variable weather conditions
  • Mandatory overtime as required
