Summary

We are hiring a Product Designer to help craft the future of Heartland.

Designers serve a vital role here: from creating the experience of new features, to the craft and finish of every detail in the product. Our Design and Research teams live and breathe user-centered processes to create the best possible, end-to-end, experience.

We appreciate designers who think deeply, speak clearly, love collaboration and feedback. We're looking for someone who can thrive in our rapid cycle test and learn culture and bring fantastic ideas to a collaborative and super fun team.

As a Product Designer at Heartland, we won't box you into a specific, narrow role. Instead, you will work fluidly and collaboratively with the rest of the organization through all aspects of the design process. Because of this, you should have a broad set of design skills, and for this role a particular interest in mobile.

Our teams are widely distributed, so you must be skilled at remote team-building and communication. You can choose to work from a Heartland office or from home, wherever you are most productive and comfortable, and occasional travel will be required.

  • Deliver pixel-perfect static and interactive mockups.
  • Provide thorough guidelines and documentation that connects and resonates with the teams using our design systems.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years industry experience as a Product Designer at a tech, product-driven company and specifically working with Design Systems in a contributor role.
  • The ability to use object-oriented thinking as a means to create containers and pipelines that streamline flexibility at scale.
  • Knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks that include JSON, API implementations, Stencil.js, Tailwind CSS, and knowledge of Storybook.io.
  • Mid-level to advanced expertise in using Figma to create reusable, scalable components and prototypes.
  • Experience in interaction, visual, and motion design.
  • Experience with prototyping.
  • Experience designing on web and mobile application platforms.
  • Portfolios that are clear, clean, and easy to navigate.
  • Extremely high attention to detail. You set the bar for what we strive to do in our products.

  • A passion for understanding user motivations and needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with lean UX principles.
  • You think in systems and are able to extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors.
