Position SummaryThe Plumbing & HVAC Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing both service and construction operations, including managing field personnel, coordinating work, and ensuring profitable execution of all plumbing and HVAC activities. This role requires balancing fast-paced service demands with structured project execution while maintaining accountability, productivity, and quality across the board. Key Responsibilities Operations & Personnel ManagementOversee all plumbing and HVAC field employees, including service technicians, journeymen, apprentices, and foremenAssign and coordinate manpower across service calls and construction projectsHold employees accountable for performance, attendance, and preparednessTrain, mentor, and develop field staff; address performance issues directly Service OperationsManage scheduling and dispatch of service callsEnsure timely response, efficient routing, and high customer satisfactionMonitor technician productivity, billable hours, and callbacksReview service tickets, pricing, and invoicing for accuracy and profitabilityResolve escalated customer issues Construction OperationsPlan and coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment for projectsMonitor job progress, labor productivity, and job costsConduct site visits to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to scheduleCoordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other tradesIdentify and resolve field issues before they impact cost or schedule Financial & Performance ManagementTrack labor efficiency, job costs, and overall profitabilityEnsure projects and service work meet or exceed budget expectationsSupport estimating, bidding, and project planningDrive revenue through efficient operations and productivity Safety & ComplianceEnforce all safety policies and OSHA requirementsEnsure compliance with plumbing, HVAC, and local codesMaintain accountability for tools, equipment, and company assets Required Qualifications5+ years experience in plumbing and/or HVAC (commercial preferred)Proven experience managing crews and/or service techniciansStrong understanding of both service and construction workflowsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and specificationsStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsExperience with scheduling, manpower planning, and job costingValid driver’s license Preferred QualificationsJourneyman or Master License (Plumbing and/or HVAC)Contractor’s licenseExperience managing both service and construction operationsFamiliarity with dispatching and project management software Work EnvironmentCombination of office and active job sitesFrequent movement between service calls and project locationsFast-paced with shifting priorities ExpectationsBalance service responsiveness with construction planning—neither can slipHold crews accountable without constant oversightMaintain productivity, quality, and profitability across all workShow up prepared and lead from the front Success Looks LikeService calls handled quickly with strong revenue per technicianProjects completed on time and within budgetMinimal callbacks, rework, and job issuesField employees performing without constant supervision
