Line/Prep Cook Job Description
The Line/Prep Cook is responsible for prepping, stocking, cooking, organizing, and cleaning the kitchen. This position reports directly to the Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine. Line/Prep cooks are responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal safety and sanitation requirements.
Responsibilities
Prepare various meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items with various equipment such as ovens, fryers, broilers, stoves, grills, as well as other various kitchen equipment.
Be able to prepare food items by following standardized recipes
Prepping and stocking kitchen stations for service
Accurately and efficiently preparing food items to order
Properly plating and garnishing food items
Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen at all times
Rotation of food stock inventory
Wrap, label, and date all product in kitchen and walk ins
Follow all portion guidelines per Sous Chef and CDCs designation
Maintain quality standards and performance expectations for the kitchen, adhering to all rules and guidelines expressed by the Employee Handbook and Management
Assists in food prep, cleaning tasks, and projects during off peak hours
Must perform opening/closing duties in the kitchen by following daily checklist and ensuring all tasks are completed before beginning/ending the shift
Attend all scheduled employee meetings
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year restaurant cooking experience
Punctual
Ability to multi task and complete tasks in an efficient and effective manner
Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
Be able to work in a standing position for long hours
Communicate clearly and effectively
Must maintain high standards of hygiene, grooming, and personal cleanliness
