Food Services Coordinator, Head Start

Compensation: $25.60/Hourly-Exempt
Hours: Regular full-time (40 hours/week)

NeighborImpact Head Start and Early Head Start provides free quality preschool and social services to 784 children and families from pregnant woman to children ages 0-5 throughout Crook and Deschutes County. The program provides quality classroom learning in addition to resources that enable access to health and dental care, family support, nutritional meals, family engagement, social/emotional and physical development, nutrition and more. Head Start is actively working toward expanding the implementation of full day preschool in Central Oregon communities to support school readiness. Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Food Service Coordinator manages and supervises Head Start program food production and delivery systems; including menu planning, food preparation and purchasing at the central kitchen as well as vended food services contract monitoring, menu development and supervision of Food Services Staff. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Head Start food service Performance Standards and USDA Child Adult Care Food Program regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring that food services are delivered within budget and participates in food services budget development. This position also participates in planning, monitoring and evaluating program food/nutrition objectives and nutrition education for children and families. The Food Services Coordinator reports to Health Services Manager.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
COVID-19 vaccine required
Knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree and 3 years of progressive experience in food service management. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
Supervisory experience required
Experience in the operation of commercial food service equipment, menu planning and food purchasing, food service budget management and organizing food service production for a large kitchen
Demonstrated experience maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe kitchen
Proficient computer skills and adept at learning new applications
Three years’ experience in food production; experience in food services for children preferred
Head Start parent or past parent preferred
Course work in child nutrition and food production/administration preferred
Must be able to do frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting. This position is rated as active and regularly requires the individual to lift 50 pound
Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
Prior to date of hire and throughout employment, certification of the following are required:
Valid driver’s license
Proof of current auto insurance. Must provide current liability insurance
Food Handler’s Card
Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry
Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required
Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
