PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The IT Systems Specialist I position’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to serving as the IT department’s initial point of contact for end-user technical support, offering first-line hardware and software troubleshooting, and endpoint configuration and deployment. Other responsibilities include assistance with A/V systems, printer configuration, governance of the City website’s content management system, Unified Endpoint Management, asset management of IT related equipment, new employee onboarding, and routing/escalating support requests to teammates.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
- High school diploma, or GED equivalent, required.
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology or related field and two (2) years verifiable work experience in a similar job position; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the described duties.
- Level 4 CJIS certification, required within first 60 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of customer service principles and processes for dealing effectively with staff, vendors, contractors, and the public in person, and via telephone, e-mail, and other current methods of communication.
- Knowledge of installation, testing, diagnostic, and troubleshooting techniques for computers, peripheral hardware, software, VOIP telecommunications, and network connectivity issues.
- Knowledge of desktop operating system imaging techniques and practices.
- Skills/ability to troubleshoot Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office products.
- Skills/ability to troubleshoot website Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Skills/ability to troubleshoot technical issues in a domain network environment.
- Skills/ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Special Requirements/Licenses:
The position requires employees to operate a motor vehicle in the course of their position. Possession of, or must obtain within thirty (30) days from date of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
Must have a safe driving record.
Desirable Requirements:
For desirable requirements to be considered, one must have met the mandatory requirements noted above:
- Possession of A+, ITF+, M365 Fundamentals, Microsoft role-based, or similar certification.
- Experience in a government setting; knowledge of state and federal laws governing public information and privacy.
- Experience with government specific software systems (SCADA, ArcGIS, SQL-based Utility Billing, AMR, etc.).
- Experience managing the enforcement of regulatory compliance (i.e.: CJIS, PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) and/or cybersecurity framework standards (i.e.: NIST, ISO, SOC2, NERC-CIP, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
- Experience with audio and video communications systems
