The Corvallis Montessori School seeks an assistant for our Toddler and Pre-K classrooms, supporting children ages 15 months to 6 years.
Position: Assistant Teacher
Terms of Employment: Full time, M-F 9:00am - 5:30pm.
Wage: starting at $12.00/hour, commensurate with experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
20+ hours education in Early Childhood or Child Development preferred, experience in Early Childhood Preschool gained through: work experience, practicum and/or student teaching in an Early Education setting desired.
Ability to clearly articulate information in both verbal and written form to people of varying cultural and educational backgrounds.
Must be enrolled and maintain eligibility in the Child Care Division's Central Background Registry.
Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR and Food Handler card within 30 days of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in supporting Montessori Teacher and Staff in responding to social and physical needs of the classroom. This may include guiding the students in making choices, redirecting them to activities, answering questions, helping maintain order, taking the students outdoors, referring the students to someone else in the class to answer questions, reporting situations to another adult. Must have the ability to remain patient when your personal limits are tested, ability to lift 25lbs.
Provide classroom observation, management and energy level appropriate to working with children ages 15 months- 6 years old.
Remain responsible, resourceful, and respectful.
Complete all paperwork, including written reports on child incidents and accidents and respond to emergency situations as needed.
