CLASSIFICATION TITLE OF THE JOB: Park Ranger Aide – Seasonal Temporary

CLASSIFICATION NUMBER: N/A

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY: Temporary, Non-Benefited Position working up to 40 hours per week.

DEPARTMENT: Linn County Parks and Recreation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Cleaning of park grounds.

Servicing and restocking restrooms and picnic facilities.

Garbage removal.

Pruning shrubs and trees.

Perform general lawn maintenance using mowers, tractors and attachments.

Repair vandalized park facilities and assist with general construction maintenance projects and general carpentry.

Patrol parks on foot or by vehicle.

Collect camping and day use fees.

Assist with code compliance and enforcement.

Maintain proper log books.

Prepare reports and provide public information to park visitors.

Must provide excellent customer service to park patrons; must be able to assess and resolves complaints appropriately.

Must be friendly, conscientious and responsible.

Must be able to effectively communicate with management, park rangers, co-workers and visitors.

Other duties as assigned by the Park Ranger.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Ability to learn and interpret park rules, area information, and local history and educate park visitors.

Ability to lead and instruct others and follow direction.

Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain organization, communication, and a reasonable completion time and quality.

Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.

Ability to perform general maintenance to park buildings and facilities.

Ability to perform janitorial services, including the use of chemicals.

Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Ability to learn about equipment servicing, diagnosing, and maintenance.

Position requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive forward and overhead reaching. Ability to lift/carry 100lbs. and push objects weighing up to 90 lbs.

Positions vary and are not all encompassing of the above listed essential functions and competencies. Job assignment may be at any one of our parks locations. The position hired for will be dependent upon skill set.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate from a senior high school or have your GED; Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must be at least 18 years at the time of hire.

SALARY, BENEFITS, COMPENSATION: This is a Temporary, Non-Benefited Position.

SALARY RANGE: $12.00-$15.00 Per Hour DOE & position hired for.

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled.

This recruitment is for multiple seasonal roles (generally 6 weeks - 3 months), and will remain open until all vacancies have been filled.
