Adaptive Seeds is a certified organic farm-based seed company located in rural Linn County, Oregon, about 45 minutes from Eugene and Corvallis. We steward and sell open-pollinated, rare, diverse and resilient seed varieties for ecologically-minded farmers, gardeners and seed savers through online sales and wholesale seed racks. We grow over 200 crops each season on about 4 acres.
Field Assistant
$11.25/hr to start, DOE.
Part-time (16-30 hrs per week), seasonal through the end of November. Work will be performed during the standard work week (Monday through Friday).
Start Date: Immediately. Position open until filled.

Responsibilities:
â¢Cultivation â use of standing hoes, wheel hoes, and very occasional hand weeding.
â¢Irrigation â including set-up and maintenance of both overhead and drip irrigation systems.
â¢Planting â hand transplanting, direct seeding with push-type seeders, and greenhouse sowing.
â¢Seed work â including harvest and processing of many types of seed, both wet and dry-seeded.
â¢Various odd jobs â cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds, brush cutting, light construction.
Qualifications:
â¢Capable of working long days full of physical outdoor labor (including bending over for long periods of time) in all weather, very hot and dry, or cold and wet.
â¢At least one season of farm field experience, a love of physical labor, and an eagerness to learn about organic seed production is desired.
â¢Self-motivated, disciplined, hard working, organized, responsible, independent, and positive.
â¢Able to work independently or with others, receive instructions and/or feedback, and follow through with any given task to completion.
â¢Competence in performing basic mental math including spatial relations, and estimating distance.
â¢Able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50lbs.
â¢Adapt and be flexible with a sense of humor and positive attitude.
â¢Provide documents for legal work in the United States.

â¢Dust, mold, and other allergens are present in the work environment.
â¢Work may be done in close proximity to others.
â¢Must be able to tolerate a cat-friendly environment.
