SUMMARY

Oversees the Quality Management Systems. Efficiently and effectively manages the company Quality Department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Responsible for all Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable quality registrations, audits and approvals.

Responsible for the company’s continuous improvement plan and adherence to quality related policies and procedures.

Formulates and establishes Q/C policies, procedures, and goals.

Confers with the Company General Manager and Finance Department to help formulate fiscal budget. Operates within the approved budget.

Maintains quality control and inspection objectives and coordinates objectives with manufacturing personnel to maximize product quality, reliability, and minimize costs.

Develops initial and subsequent modifications of the inspection aspect of the Q/C program to identify areas of responsibility and operational procedures within program. Reviews technical problems and procedures and recommends/implements solutions to problems or concerns.

Works with production management to identify detractors from quality in all phases of production.

Confers with department managers about current QC inspection methods applicable to improved production.

Supervises workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, equipment and hardware. Prepares, reviews and issues all customer required quality documentation, including inspection reports, corrective action requests, etc Communicates with customer on all Quality related issues

Generates inspection plans and costs for proposal and bid information.

Reviews Company purchase orders for conformance to customer requirements concerning QC inspection requirements.

Works with suppliers to obtain information related to quality, capacity of vendors and subcontractors to meet orders, and vendor / subcontractor quality standards.

Recommends required training for inspection and material control personnel.

Analyzes and recommends resources necessary to accomplish inspection workload in a controlled, successful and profitable manner.

Disseminates and ensures adherence to corporate administrative policies and procedures.

Responsible for performance reviews for personnel assigned to the Q/C department per the review schedule established by Human Resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality responsibilities include working with customers and peers to establish overall inspection objectives for the job and will include the creation and/or approval of formal inspection plans. Must be extremely knowledgeable of the Quality Policy and work within the guidelines of our ISO / AS Quality Management System procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated experience with use of a full range of precision measuring equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

AA degree (BS preferred) in engineering or quality related function, technical apprenticeship or associates degree (2 yr.) in a related function and minimum of 10 years experience in QA/QC in a machine shop environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret blue prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and Quality Control procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts of plane and solid geometry. Knowledge of trigonometry concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations, and, where limited standardization exists, with general supervision.
