Calling all Green-Thumbs! Samurai Grower Supply is seeking applicants for full or part time customer service/counter sales positions in our retail hydroponic gardening store and nursery. Job Duties: The primary job duty is assisting customers in person, on the phone, through email or social media. You will help customers find and buy products to solve problems or improve results in their gardens. Some other job duties include watering, fertilizing and pruning plants, running the cash register and giving change, receiving and checking in products, sweeping and dusting, stocking shelves, propagating plants from seed or clone, up-potting plants, working on store displays and signage, setting up/taking down special event booths and boxing or palletizing inter-store transfers and deliveries.
Minimum requirements: Applicants must enjoy and have multiple years of experience gardening or farming. You must like helping people and be able to smile and be positive even if you don’t feel like it at the time. You will need to be physically able to lift bags of soil, amendments and boxes up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. We need someone who can multi-task well and be a quick learner and have initiative to learn and develop knowledge and skills while at work or at home.
Preferred applicants: Will have some formal gardening education or at least one year of work experience in a related field. Knowledge of the following topics is a huge plus; conventional and organic fertilizers, drip irrigation, indoor grow lighting and equipment, greenhouse operations and equipment, bagged soils and amendments, compost, compost tea, hydroponics, organic growing practices, pest and disease control (IPM), annual and perennial vegetable/herb/flower seeds and plants, plant support and harvesting, pH/PPM and propagation from seed and clone. First-hand experience growing Cannabis or Hemp is also very desirable for this position.
COVID-19 Protocol: We are operating under the CDC guidelines asking that customers wear masks and maintain social distancing while in the store as well as using hand sanitizer before and after shopping with us. We have tables in front of our counters to create distance and we are sanitizing the store fixtures multiple times per day. Hours and Pay: We have one or two openings available for both full-time or part-time employees. Work hours will be between 9am and 7pm and will require regular weekend work. Starting pay for these positions is between $11.25-$13 per hour depending on experience. Reply to this post with your resume for consideration.
