Provided with a truck and tools, a Lead Carpenter is responsible for all aspects of building a project; from demolition to finished product. They lead, train, and direct crew members. They read plans, determine scope, source materials, and fully complete the work within the scope assigned to them. The scope may be an entire project or just one element.

As someone who interacts directly with clients and subcontractors, we need strong communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts tactfully. Operating digitally, we need someone who is comfortable with technology or willing to learn.

Key responsibilities:

-Operate a company vehicle

-Safely use required power tools & equipment

-Professionally represent Thayer Construction

-Understand and respond to customer concerns

-Sources materials and/or information at trade specific suppliers

-Direct & train crew members

-Manage Safety on jobsites

-Read and interpret plans and blueprints

-Accurately gauge timelines and communicates with Production Manager regarding deadlines

-Monitor crew members' performance.

Requirements:

-Humility; Were not interested in ego.

-Driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record.

-Provide your own basic carpentry tools.

-Outstanding references.

-4+ years residential construction experience.

-1+ Years experience supervising crew members.

-Understand and/or research residential systems, codes, and order of operations.

-Rough & finish carpentry, cabinetry, roofing, siding, windows and door installation, flooring, drywall finishing, paint, tile, basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and natural gas.

-Must be able to perform multiple tasks at construction sites that require extensive physical labor, including lifting, climbing, bending, digging, and operating hand and power tools for 8-10 hours a day. Able to lift 60lbs repeatedly.
