A day in the life:

Work outdoors as member of survey crew.

Keep accurate and complete field notes.

Perform surveying calculations to determine elevations, coordinates, areas, earthwork quantities, circular and spiral curve data, distances, and establish and determine highway alignments.

Assist the survey crew chief with collecting and processing survey data collected on projects.

Assist the lead surveyor in drafting of boundary, monument recovery, and right of way monumentation maps of survey to be filed with the appropriate county surveyor.

Requires occasional travel, working long hours at times, working in inclement weather and working in close proximity to highway traffic or construction equipment.

What we need:

An associate's degree in engineering technology from a community college or technical school of engineering and two years of experience directly related to engineering.

OR

Three and one-half years (42 months) of sub-professional engineering experience OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
